New Samsung LCD HDTV Review

Great, compact TV for a great price!
I purchased this TV second-hand, and I use it as a computer monitor. I do a significant amount of graphic design work, so color reproduction, black levels and clarity are very important to me.

Expect to spend some time playing with the settings if you want anything approximating true colors. At first I thought this was an awful TV/monitor. I spent a couple hours trying to calibrate it and, after being unable to achieve usable results, I almost sold it the next day. It took me a couple more hours of a tinkering to finally get it how it is now, but NOW it is fantastic.

It took a combination of video card settings and monitor settings. While calibrating I ensured I had a high contrast background with lots of dark colors. I played a video with lots of action and facial tones, and kept a color palette up. Then I played with the settings individually, I first got the monitor optimized: sharpness (0), contract (65), brightness(60), color(50), tint (G50/R50), color temperature (Cool2), in Dynamic mode using the "Just Scan" option and none of the stupid gimmicky software filtering they add under picture options. Then moving onto the video card settings I found that I needed to drastically alter the gamma settings to alleviate serious black-bleeding (+1.27). I also had to fool around with individual colors using the automatic monitor setup tool that comes with Nvidia video cards. Obviously, your TV and video card are going to differ from mine, but hopefully this serves as a helpful starting point.

The color reproduction and black levels are almost on par with my IPS and PVA panels that sit to the left and right respectively. Even though this is a TN, it does have very acceptable color reproduction. Now don't get me wrong, you will not want to do any sort of graphic work on this TV, but it looks great for movies, games and general computer use.

It is sufficiently bright with the backlight on level 0 both at night and during the day.

The remote is alright. It's quite ugly, but it's designed with older folks in mind. The buttons are easy to hit and the backlight behind the keys makes it easily usable in a dark room.

The stand is sturdy and looks very nice and clean. The base's rotation works well and stays where placed, it will not rotate on its own.

If you do much switching between resolutions, such as transitioning into a legacy full screen program, the monitor does take a few seconds to catch up. It is much worse than any monitor I've used before, but not a deal-breaker for me at all.

I can truly recommend this product, but be prepared to calibrate!

I was very satisfied in the service I received for buying this TV through Amazon. TV is working just great. And the delivery company (PILOT FREIGHT SERVICE) was just excellent in setting up this set and making sure it was in working order. Driver even stayed until set was programmed. A great guy, and very well informed on the workings of this TV.
This is the second set I bought through Amazon. Last July I bought a 46" Samsung HDTV and also was extremely pleased in the service in making sure set was in working order before they departed.

Great HDTV
Gorgeous picture. Fairly easy to figure out all the features. I love the fact that the TV decides the best configuration for the picture being fed.

a great addition to our house
it fits in the space we dedicated for it. The picture is clear and has many options that are are easy to manipulate. The only problem I have right now is connecting to my PC. I buoght a VGA cable, connected to my computer and the TV but still not reception.

Very Pleased
I think this is an excellent product that is less than 1/2 the price that you would find at one of the big box stores.

Very easy to install. All you need is a level, a socket, a stud finder, and an extra set of hands when you actually need to lift the TV on the mount.

Very nicely painted and very easy to use.

The only complaint is that there appears to be a lock pin in the mount that is not easy to remove that prevents it from tilting.

TOP QUALITY WALL MOUNT
Purchased two of these wall mounts for my Samsung ln55B650, and my ln40A750 HDTV'S. I found the instructions very easy to understand. The brackets, and wall frame is very well constructed. The wall mount wood screws are of top quality. Once the wall mount is installed with these wood bolts, it's there to stay. The bracket screws that come with this kit are plenty. The screws, spacers fit my HDTV'S and there was no problem putting the brackets to my tv's. There are "TWO" options on tilting your brackets. One is the tension lever, and the other is a set screw. Find the angle that works best for you, set the screw and your done. For me, I used the set screw. Once your HDTV is hung on the mount, just use the long allen wrench that is provided and tighten the security screws to the bottom half of the wall mount. This secures your HDTV securely to your wall mount. Believe me, nothing nor anyone will remove your HDTV. I've read the reviews on this product, and the people who gave this product a bad review because of the instructions either didn't read the instructions or didn't understand what it was saying. To sum everything up on this product....high quality, very easy instructions, an a very very good price. You will be very pleased with this wall mount.

I as pretty disappointed with this mount, having used it to mount a samsung ln52b750. Several reviews talk about this being a high quality mount. I will echo that and say that yes this mount is made out of metal, unlike the cheaper straw, baked mud, and cardboard mounts (avoid those, especially with plasma). The problem with this mount is the instructions.

If you follow the instructions to a T, your tv will be mounted 2-3 inches above the point you expect. This is a major error in the instructions, which you'll see mentioned in a couple of other reviews here.

Furthermore, the instructions say nothing about how to actually tilt the mount, despite this being a "tilt mount". After more than 5 hours, I finally discovered that it takes more than 200 pounds of torque before the mount will actually tilt the first time (be prepared to do pullups from the bezel of your new wall mounted flat screen tv, wearing a keg of beer like a backpack. And I only got wind of this after desperately searching these reviews as a last measure. (Note the couple of reviews which indicate they never did figure out how to tilt the tilt-mount). But once you break the "tilt seal", it no longer requires so much weight. Now that the tv is mounted and tilted, the mount functions as desired, but I do wish that I had used a different mount, even the cheetah ones have got to have better instructions (?).

Last complaint--it comes with a very long Allen wrench to tighten various screws, including the security screws. But if you happen to be mounting above a mantle, forget using it, because it's length will prevent you from doing so. Meanwhile, your existing Allen wrench collection won't help you because this is a "special" version that is hollowed out in the center, and the screws won't work with a regular Allen wrench. Without a means of tightening these screws, we've had to forego using the security screws, since there is no way to tighten them, thanks to the proprietary screws. But to be fair, proprietary screws aren't necessarily a bad thing when you consider security-- it would be pretty hard for someone to steal the tv unless they had a special peerless Allen wrench.

If peerless had included a corrections, or a "known bugs" sheet with this mount, it would be good. But given that they have failed to do so, I would avoid this mount, just like the straw, cardboard, glass and Bakelite mounts, as it will waste your time and at worst, destroy your tv from ambiguous instructions. Buy a different mount unless you don't mind the potential of wasting a lot of time from bad instructions

Very well built
This is a very high quality mount. I saw many other that were very cheaply built. The only negative is that this is a little hard to adjust, but once it was adjusted, it will never move again. Would definitely buy again.

Does the job....
This was very easy to install. I specifically wanted this design so that I could bring power and cabling in between the supports. It comes with a variety of screws to mount almost any LCD/Plasma/LED imaginable. The Allen Wrench that comes with the unit is a little ackward to use when locking the unit in place but not a big deal.

Works like a 0 one you would get from a box store
Used this wall mount with a Samsung LN46a550 model. I did notice when I received the box it looked like it was open before, didnt pay to much attention, till I got to the part where it called for a long screw driver/tool it came with to lock in the panel into place. No big deal since I had my own.
I selected this mount becuase I knew I was going to have multi connections and didnt feel like making it harder to mount my TV with a flush wall mount. I was able to connect a coxal, 2 component, and 1 HDMI cable with no problems.
My sister needs to mount her Sammy next, I would deff go with Peerless again!

Very easy to install
I highly recommend this product. It was very easy to install, and bolted to my 42" Panasonic Viera plasma with the included hardware. There is a bunch of different hardware and washer/spacers for a lot of different TV's. They have a web site that you can check. Spend the money on a good stud finder so you can hit the middle of the stud with the mounting bolts. The tilt is a nice feature for the bedroom.

This wall mount is excellent! It exceeded my expectations without adding a great deal of weight in the process.

I am a novice installer and this went up without a hitch. (I mounted 2 LCD's -32"LCD and 36" LCD in under 2 hours all by my lonesome.)

Received ample hardware to mount a variety of lcd/plasma tvs; instructions were clear and concise (The only MINOR issue I had was that the instruction manual mentions an allen wrench being included hardware but was not. After reading some other user reviews, I erroneously thought I needed it for tilt adjustment. However, after contacting peerless, they informed me that this particular model doesn't come with one and it isn't required for install or tilt adjustment (so don't panic! :-P)

No complaints whatsoever-5 stars!!

Quality, strong, and quick install
First I would like to comment on amazon.com. I ordered this item with free "super saver" shipping and the box was on my doorstep within 18 hours. Great service.

Let me also say that I ordered this item from amazon in April of 2009 and received EXACTLY what was pictured. After reading others commenting on receiving something other than what was pictured I was a little nervous while placing the order. The wall mount itself is excellent quality, extremely strong and durable. I agree with others that say to be sure to have a good stud finder and make the measurements before placing the order for this product. I mounted my Samsung 40" LN40B750 TV in my closet with this mount after removing the closet doors. I tilted the screen down 5 degrees and can easily watch a perfect picture from my bed.

A note on the tilting. I read another review that said this mount could only be tilted down 5 degrees and tilted up 15 degrees. This is not correct. If this mount is installed correctly one should be able to tilt the TV down up to 15 degrees.

The "one touch tilting" is definitely misleading. Tilting requires loosening two machine screws with a screw driver and hand loosening the "one touch tilt" screws.

Another note: When I received this item I tested the screw sizes in my television and purchased the same screws in stainless steel as another review suggested.

Overall, This mount is well worth the money. It took under a half hour to install. If any product fails it will be the television, not the mount. once this thing is on the wall, it wont rip off. Follow the instructions carefully and everything will be fine.

Cheap DigiCam Appearance
I've now viewed two Samsung LCD tvs including this model. They both have the same disconcerting problem that others may call a feature. Yes, the picture is sharp. However, objects in the foreground are excessively sharp and well defined relative to the background. It makes me feel like I'm watching the program through a cheap digicam. I don't know what you'd call this effect but I can't call it a good viewing experience. Now, that picture 'feature' may be good for football games but not for network tv shows where it's the most pronounced. It's evident to a lesser extent on movies. I would not buy this tv.

A great deal
This tv is a great deal because you can, play blu-ray, 4 hdmi imputs, and 120 hearts a mintue. Me and my family got this tv after doing some reasearch. We think it's a great deal, so we recomend you buy it. (Deatails listed at the bottom:

3: It runs at 120 herts a minute.
4: It's a Samsung (with a touch of red color.)
5: It;s 46 inches.

Great picture before display/picture stopped working.
The SAMSUNG LN46A6501F worked great until it stopped working.

I purchased this exact LCD TV from Amazon and 4 months in, but (as of yesterday) there is never any picture (and the firmware was up to date) and now the TV turns itself on and off intermittently.

If there's never any picture then I cannot see any menus to try and troubleshoot. From other user boards, this appears to be a common issue for Samsung LCD's. Looks like I have to have the entire main board replaced. Am in process with Samsung on that. I am writing now as this appears to be a common issue within the first 4-6 months of the SAMSUNG LN 6 Series.

The other reason for the 3 stars is that Samsung's user documentation would be improved by adding a one-sheet with the standard set up info. If Apple can do this, why can't other vendors?

Beautiful
Beautiful display for the price. We only have a handful of HD channels, but they look great. For the price this was an excellent choice for us. I don't use a lot of the "extra" features, like ethernet connection, or ability to plug in a usb drive, but nice knowing they're there.

I do wish the Standard def channels looked a little nicer. But when you're magnifying the signal into a bigger screen (we replaced a 32" set) You're bound to be unhappy with the picture.

Watch the prices. This was cheaper than NewEgg here at Amazon by 0... Was the other way around the week leading up to the purchase. Glad I came back to check.

LCDs have come a long way
This television is spectacular! I watch a lot of sports and I couldn't ask for a better picture. The sound is great too. I'm very glad I went with this LCD rather than a plasma. I can't see any difference in the picture quality and I don't have to worry about burn-in.

Only con I see is the controls on the front panel of the TV. You totally cannot see them at all, even if you look closely. You need a flashlight to see them. Otherwise, great TV.
