Great 32" LCD
I purchased this LCD over the weekend at a local store, it is for my 12 yr old son. This was my first samsung purchase, all of my other lcd tv's are different brands. I was impressed with the TV, he has 2 gaming systems and his dvd player hooked up along with directv. The sd channels are acceptable and look pretty good, I also got him an off air antenna for local HD channels and this TV does a great job. The HD content looked great, the TV is easy to adjust, the swivel stand is a nice addition. It has a 6ms response time and I saw no tearing while watching football yesterday. I will more than likely purchase another one of these for the other kids rooms.

All in all I'd say in the 32" range at 720p you cant go wrong with this one, I even got it cheaper than I could have online. I would recommend this TV for anyone looking for a good 32" lcd

Nice TV
With all the choices available for LCD TV, it becomes very difficult to decide which is the best for the value. This was a secondary TV for a smaller room, so I asked my son (a geek gamer) for his opinion and he recommended the Samsung. As a double check, I looked in Consumer Reports and coincidentally they rated this 32' as one of their top picks. TV is great, picture and sound quality are excellent.

VERY IMPRESSED
I am very satisfied with my purchase and the quick delivery. 15 minutes out of the box and I was watching my favorite programming. The previous reviews of this LCD led me to purchase this particular model and I have to say not one of them lied. Well worth the money!

Great deal on Black Friday
I managed to get one of these great TV's from P.C. Richard and Sons, a large TV and electronics dealer in the state of NY and NJ. The store I went in told me they were out of them, but I went looking around the store anyway. I found one more literally stuck between two 50 inch plasmas on the other side of the store where from where the Samsungs were sold. Mind you this is a 799 dollar TV. The sale price (which I did not even know at the time of picking up the box)of Black Friday was 547.00 so I was thrilled to find one at 11am since the store opened at 5am. Since I took it out of the box I have not stopped playing with the features of the TV. My cable box does not have HDMI outputs and I am fixing that on Monday, but just using S video and Component I can tell this is going to be a great TV. Picture out of the box is stunning, but with tweaks and trims you can even make it better. Anyone still out there an on the fence on this TV should go for it. Remember 720p vs 1080p doesn't really matter on a TV that is 32".

Buy it while you can and I hope you are as lucky as I was with my price. The next closest price I found was about 120 dollars more than PC Richard and Sons was.

Great features and picture quality
Purchased 2 weeks ago. Great picture and features, however the documented stand issue was evident. Could not level the set with the 4 mounting screws. Ended up using felt pads under two of the four rubber feet on the base to level the set. Given the picture quality at the current price point, I can live with the felt shims.

Beautiful TV and great price; currently no sound issues
I bought this TV to replace my old Sony tube TV which was defective and had a greenish screen. That TV was only a few years old, too, which doesn't say too much for Sony products. This TV, however, is so beautiful; it is FAR superior to the old tube TV I had. There is just no comparison. The colors are vibrant and the contrast is amazing, especially in HD. It is my first HD TV and I can definitely see why people love these TVs so much.

The sound is just okay. I do not have the sound distortion problem resulting from using the QAM tuner and not a cable box with Comcast with this TV. Hopefully, I will never get this problem since it is a major issue with the 32" Samsung TV we bought shortly after this one. You can see what I mean by reading my review on the LN32A330 model. Apparently, most of Samsung's tuners are defective in these TVs and do not work well with cable signals (mainly Comcast) unless there is a cable box. This results in distorted or "robotic" sound on HD channels at regular intervals.

I highly recommend this TV ONLY if you use a cable box. I personally wouldn't take a chance with it if you have Comcast or any other cable without a cable box. My 26" doesn't have the sound problem, but it could only be a matter of time before it pops up, which I have heard does happen.

Good picture from wide viewing angle
It was easy to hook up. The picture is great and there is no distortion even if viewed from a side angle - it can be watched from every chair in the room. Sound is pretty good. As someone who doesn't read instructions, it is easy to operate. The shiny black is very attractive, but is a dust magnet.

Samsung 26" LCD HDTV
Very good product; just as advertised; sharp picture and easy to use. As usual, very EXCELLENT ordering and QUICK delivery time from Amazon suppliers.

Great TV overall
This is my first HDTV and I couldn't be happier with the picture, it truely is amazing. The reason I give it 4* is because the sound is terrible, you really do NEED to buy external speakers. It sounds like a radio, which is a huge turn off if you doing something like playing Guitar Hero or watching mtv, things of that nature. I disregarded the other reviewers saying the sound is bad, it really is noticable. Just a little thing on my wish list, I wish it had S-Video, Headphone plug ins, and PIP but the 2 HDMI inputs make up for it. I just listed all the cons about the TV which may make you think that it's a bad set, but it really has great picture quality. Xbox 360 games look great with the HDMI input, and HD programs, like football, look so much better than with a regular TV. Regualr cable channels do look like crap, as they do with most/all HDTV's. Just be weary that if you buy this set you will most likely also need to buy speakers and digital cable. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Misleading images - Bezel is thicker than it is in images.
All of the advertising images of this TV are misleading. The black frame/bezel on this TV is actually about an inch wider than it appears to be in the advertising images of the TV. To me, this is a disappointment. Pretty good TV. Sound is ok but could be better. Seems to be some resonant vibration/distortion at moderate levels. Contrast range doesn't seem to meet specs.

Love it
The picture is phenomenal and sound has come a long way from earlier LCDs. I was going to buy a wall mount for the swivel feature, but was pleasant;y surprised to learn the stand has it's own swivel feature already included. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

Having a blast with the new TV
I had this TV for about a month now and do not have any regrets about buying it used. I was looking for a TV a little under 2000 and found this one for 1900 with a open box discount. First of all blu-ray is the way to go with this TV, b/c of the clarity of all aspects. Bought this TV with a blu-ray capable samsung surround sound home theater system and a 40G PS3 with a free movie (troy). Set up was very very easy and went with HDMI cable and fiber optic cables for excellent audio. Popped in the blu-ray dvd and was astonished on how clear everything was. If you are looking for a TV and feel like going all out, this is the one to get. The reason I got this tv was for the 120 HZ

A Super TV
I lucked out when I found this tv through Amazon. I had been looking at several different models but I always came back to the Samsung. I'm glad I did as the picture and color are great, I would recommend this product to anyone.

Awesome TV, super blacks, great price.
I have had this TV for a couple of months now. I was trying to decide between this and the LN46A750. They were both the same price, but I wasn't too hot on the red border on this year's model. After doing some extensive research it all came down to this TV and the Sony XBR4. The XBR was more expensive, and seeing the two sets in the store there was no comparison. The Samsung has MUCH deeper blacks and better color and contrast. I think this may be partly due to the glossy finish on the Samsung's screen.

Speaking of which, this is one thing that I was worried about. I have a pretty bright room, and I was afraid that the glossy screen would be a problem. No worries, the only reflections you can see are those directly behind you.

This TV has plenty of inputs, although I only use about 2 (1 HDMI for my DVD player, 1 component for my HD Cable Box). I don't use any of the audio inputs anymore because of my surround sound, but when I did use the audio it seemed like the TV had decent sound. It was surprising the level of low-mid range sound the TV produced from such a small enclosure.

The AutoMotionPlus (AMP) feature is great! I tend to leave it on low, so I have never noticed any "jitter" that many reviewers have seen. I only (immediately) noticed the problem in the store when the TV was set on "high". I tried it at home, with the set on high, and did not notice anything. Samsung has (supposedly) released a firmware that fixed this problem, and I'm sure all of the new TVs ship with it. Still, I think it's overkill for me on high, and I found that the AMP on high (and sometimes medium) detracted from the viewing experience.

The black-levels on this TV are unmatched by any LCD I've ever seen. It doesn't quite match the levels of Pioneer's plasma line, but it can beat any LCD out there. The blacks are pretty incredible, even though there is a slight black crush.

I also use this TV on the VGA input with a Media Center PC that I built out of some old computer parts I had laying around. I can get 1080p resolution with some H.264 files doing this and truly see what the TV is capable of (because I don't have a Bluray player... yet). The image is outstanding. Clean, crisp, beautiful. Bright, bright whites. The detail is incredible on 1080p, and it looks MUCH better than Comcast's HD feed (which, by the way, is being recompressed on certain channels, search Google for "comcast recompress", first link for AVSForum). I just wish I could do AMP on the VGA input. Oh well, I'll eventually switch over to the HDMI input for my PC.

Lastly, the TV is pretty energy efficient for its size. Remember that when you get it, ALL the settings are cranked up to the max. You DON'T need it like this, and in fact it looks worse than if you tweak the settings. I tend to lower the brightness to 50%, and the backlight down to 3 or so. You may not be used to the slightly darker picture, so give yourself a couple of days with it. You get better detail and truer colors using this method, not to mention you basically cut power consumption in half.

SUMMARY:
This TV is outstanding. For the price you can't beat the color, black- and white-levels, quality of manufacturing, number on inputs, and features. The set itself is beautiful, and the picture is amazing. Great job, Samsung!

Great TV
Samsung is a well-respected brand and I had read reviews of this TV before I bought it. The TV has amazing picture quality. I have a PS3 hooked up to it and BluRay movies along with PS3 games, running in 1080p, look spectacular. The detail is superb and the color/contrast is great. As far as the sound quality goes, I don't really know since I have a home theater system. It has a lot of features and is, as far as I can tell, one of the best TVs for the money out there.

It isn't perfect, however. In my limited experience, the AutoMotion Plus (AMP), which is touted to smooth out the action and reduce blur, has not worked as Samsung claims. In movies it generally makes the slow moving scenes seem surreal and fast moving scenes more blurry. And for games, it seems to make it more choppy, even in Game Mode (which activates AMP). I made sure I have the most recent firmware, too. As I mentioned, I have very limited experience with using the AMP feature, so these issues may possibly be fixed by messing with settings. I mainly wanted 120Hz for the benefit of 5:5 pulldown to smooth out 24fps movies.

All in all, it is a great TV and, despite the AMP issues, it deserves 5 stars.

nice TV
great picture with HD on some channels like ESPN; not as great with refgular broadcasts. Occasional "hiccups" in the software - have had to reset a little here and there. Good viewing angles for an LCD.

Great...but 7 months later a big problem
I ordered the Samsung LNT 4069 in March 2008, after doing
a lot of research (much of which was thanks to comments
from people like you).

Everything was fine..until yesterday.

I turned on the tv, and the picture essentially goes "in and out"
(ie on and off) with the "off" either being blank (ie black screen)
or a screen entirely comprised of 'snow'.

Samsung is closed, so I'll have to call them tomorrow.
However, I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem,
and I was wondering what the solution was?

I'm very surprised, since I know the quality of Samsung and
everyone gave it great reviews!

Excellent picture. Saved hundreds buying it from Amazon.com. I've had it almost a year now, and absolutely no problems. Free shipping, and delivery was a breeze. The HD channels on this TV will blow you away. The picture in HD is even better than if you could see it live. I never knew how bad some actors look until I saw them on HD on this TV. Definite buy!!! You won't be disappointed.

Great TV and great service from Electronics Expo
I ordered this TV and it arrived from UPS. When I took it out of the box the frame of the TV was broken. I called both UPS and Electronics Expo. UPS was helpful but Electronics Expo was exceptional. After the call I truly believed that I would get a new TV with no problems. And that is exactly what I got. A new beautiful TV in perfect order with no hassles.
After two weeks I am still very satisfied with the quality of the TV. I called Samsung because I had trouble hooking up the TV and their customer service was good too. I don't have cable yet so my TV is only hooked up to the antenna which means I don't have HD and I'm still satisfied! I'd buy this TV again. All the research I looked up regarding this TV before I bought it was helpful and true. The matte finish is great for my bright room for viewing. It's so easy to use I hardly had to read the book except for hooking it up. The sound is good even without any additional speakers and the price is right:)

Gorgeous TV
This television is beautiful in nearly every way. The sound does get weird as far as volume levels are concerned. It's never too quiet or too loud, it just requires some fine tuning when not using surround sound. Games and Blu-rays have never looked prettier. Excellent buy!

LOVE MY "TUBE"
I like watching thisw TV. I have DirecTV with HD DVR and a HD DVD player. The picture is amazing clear. I have the option to either listen through the amp in surround or through the TV speakers. Either works for me, you should use a sound sytem capable of switching and upgrading to HDMI 1.3.

SOmne of the features, such as automatic color adjkustment and such, are nice to have, but I think it works great without any of them turned. There are three "memory" settings for video. I set them up for the changes in room lighting and it's very simple to switch.

Awesome TV!
This is by far the coolest, best purchase I have made in years. I got this TV at a great price, and it was more than I could have imagined. Great picture, sleek looking TV. It arrived fairly quickly and in perfect shape. Samsung knows how to make TV's! The 120 Hz technology is something that everyone will be wanting in the coming years with Blu-ray technology coming to the forefront.

Amazing picture. 120hz is a joke!
Had this TV for six months now. Just as many of the other reviewers have said, the picture and clarity of this TV is unmatched. You are just going to be blown away by the colors, brightness, and overall picture quality, hands down.

I'm convinced that this 120hz technology is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. It just doesn't work. The screen gets all choppy and studders when it kicks in and is extremely distracting. I've contacted Samsung and installed the latest updates but it just flat-out doesn't work. Luckily, I can turn it off and the LCD's infamous "motion blur" doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as the 120hz fiasco.

In the end, I would say buy the plasma. You'll save yourself enough money to buy a blu-ray player, a ton of movies, and a lifetime of popcorn and you'll get a comparable picture quality without the motion blur.

Inferior product, poor support
Bought TV less than 1 year ago. It died 2wks ago. It's still under warranty. Other than wait longer, Samsung has not been able to tell us what's wrong, when it will be fixed. Poor customer support, inferior product.

Got a Bad Piece - Samsung Support is Very Very Bad
The TV has not worked properly since the second month. There are these dead gray pixels on the left hand side of the screen. Changing the panel didn't fix the problem.

First, Samsung tried to fix it but couldn't. Then they tried to exchange it but ran out of their TV stock. Now they've been trying to issue a refund but can not seem to move the process along.

The refund check has been AP posted since August 6th but a trucking company has still not contacted me. Customer service doesn't give me more information except to wait more time.

The customer service is so inefficient, slow and unhelpful.The exchange process has been going on for 4 months and is still not complete. No idea when they will pick up the old TV and issue a refund check. Bad product, horrible support.

Great TV
Pro-Beautiful TV, Beautiful picture especially with 1080. The 120 GH is not needed. Con- Speakers not great but normmal for a TV. I am using my computer 2.1 speaker with this TV. Biggest complaint was with the delivery (Pilot was the company) White glove delivery it was not. The delivery man & his boss were rude, but Amazon made up for their rudeness.
If possible make sure Amazon does not use this company for your delivery.

Great Bargain
I have had this tv for about a month now and I love it. The standard definition processing (basic cable) is alright. Some of the higher end tv's have better standard defintion processing, but it still isn't bad. The HD picture is crystal clear and the colors are phenomanal. The sound is good, but I ended up getting a surrond sound system to go with it. I definately would recommend this product to anyone. I give the tv 4 stars and the bargain 5 stars. It is the best quality to bargain ration out there.

Since I relied heavily on these product reviews when I purchased the set , I feel compelled to make my contribution. I was struggling on whether to go with this or the next one up (touch of color). When the first order was delivered, the guy came in, he set everything up and the set would not power up. So he packed it back up and told me to contact Amazon. My first reaction once the disappointment was over was to be greatful for the white glove service. It would have been a bear to have to ship it back on my own. Amazon was great on arranging a replacement - no hassel or string of dumb questions at all. Same guy delivered the next set and everything powered up fine. My first reaction was that the picture was ......OK. Better than my old set, but something less than the experience I was hoping for. I figured that maybe the set was just too big for the room. My viewing distance at 11' is a little closer than recommended. I was listening for the sound after seeing the complaints in some of the other reviews but I found the sound to be quite acceptable so I don't understand their complaints at all - especially since there a lot of ways to modify it . In fact pretty much all the functions of the TV can be customized to suit personal tastes. After a week I ordered High Def from Direct TV - which was always in the plan. Fired up the set and the picture was ..... FANTASTIC !! I can't really overstate the quality of the picture I am now getting. I have had this setup for about a month now and am still totally blown away every time I see that High Def picture. Especially awsome for football, nature shows, science channel, - aw heck they are all great. I think my original analysis was probably right - with a tv this big you probably want to sit further away if you are getting a standard feed. With the High Def , I swear you could sit 2' away. I have no regrets about not stepping up to the touch of color - I don't see how the picture could be better , but if it is, it probably wouldn't have been worth the cost differential ( about 20% at the time I was buying). Hope this helps in your buying decision.

Great TV for a great price
I was looking for an inexpensive 1080p LCD-TV in that size (46") and I didn't get disappointed. I had a Pioneer Plasma before for which I paid big money but it never reaches the quality of that Samsung. I can really recommend it.

Good Price
This TV mount was easy to install and adjust but difficult if you have to add or raplace a cable. Too tight to the wall. Good price & quality.

Amazing price, outstanding product.
After spending almost 00 on a new t.v., I wanted to make sure to get a mount that would keep it safe and sound for life. I read countless reviews and chose this model. I really didn't see where the price was justified on the 0 models. It is a pretty simple setup, afterall. Mounting this was pretty easy. Usually I can't even hang pictures up straight, but I got this perfectly level without having to drill any extra holes. Once the bracket was secured to the wall and the t.v. was ready to hang, I got really nervous trying to put my investment up there. It actually went in pretty easily. You will probably need a long handled #1 phillips screwdriver to reach the bottom securing screws. The tilt feature is nice, but I only use it if I'm swapping out cables.
This was an amazing deal!!!

Instruction manual
The wall mount itself is fine and works as you would expect. Biggest problem was understanding the instruction manual (I think it was vague). One additional problem was that the hardware suggested for my plasma was incorrect, however by trial and error I found the appropiate pieces. The project was a success and I'm enjoying laying in bed watching my new panasonic.

Peerless Wall Mount
Works great for our 32" LCD TV however since the product is made for a range of sizes, 32" - 50" the hardware shows a bit more than I would like behind our 32" TV. My handy husband put the hardware together and though the directions were not as straighforward and clear as he would have liked, he put it together without too much trouble.

After installed, my panasonic plasma is dead
1) The product came with missing part. It did not have a little wrench as stated in the picture
2) It seemed that the upper hook and bottom cannot snapped on perfectly.
3) It provided lot of crews for different type of TV. Only M6 crews fit my plasma. After installed, turned on the TV, my plasma dead and I found out the bottom of my plasma has a little crack. I researched online, people said that because of the TV mount caused the stress on the screen to crack. Now I am hesitance to hang my other new Samsung LCD with this mount. :-(

Samsung LCD Picture in Picture doesn't work for composite video source
My parents bought the Samsung LN40A550, which has good reviews in consumer reports. This TV has only 1 tuner, so picture in picture requires another source. In the manual it does states: You can view Analog TV broadcasts on the PIP screen (sub-picture) when the main picture is from an external device connected to HDMI 1,HDMI/DVI 2, HDMI 3, Component1, 2 or PC.
So if you only have an external device which is composite video (yellow RCA jack) you will not be able to do PIP.
When I got my Samsung 50" DLP years ago it had dual tuners and PIP was a simple PIP button on the remote. However the current Samsung LCD and DLPs along many other new tvs appear to have this limiting ability to perform PIP. Even if you do have the required source (componet/HDMI/PC) the process to active the PIP is not just a PIP button click on the remote. Other than the PIP issues the Samsung LN40A550 is a fine tv.

terrible television
I've owned a 1080p samsung television (LNS4041) for approximately 2 years now. After fifteen months of operation the thing went on the fritz (turn it on and purple and green vertical lines appear with a black background - no pic.). Samsung claims I'm a few days outside my warranty and won't back up the product. I've called to have it repaired and it will cost 0 just to have somebody look at it. I'm thinking about smashing it into tiny bits an posting the video on YouTube. Overall, I'm very disappointed in samsung and regret the purchase. If you must have this television, buy the extended warranty. As for me, I'm getting my next lcd at Wal-Mart - perhaps a sanyo.

I did a lot of research before settling on the Samsung LN40A550. Samsung is one of the top brands, and the only thing that worried me about this TV was the possibility that not being a 120hz machine would leave sports and action movies unwatchable.

I found a website called tweaktv that offers picture calibration settings, and these made a huge difference on the picture quality out of the box. Changing the sharpness down to 2 and setting the mode to "Movie" make for a huge improvement in picture quality. Jaggy text went away, and the picture got a lot cleaner. I used the tv for a week without HD, because I didn't have time to go get the box. Picture quality was OK with regular cable and component cables. Better than the old regular tv it replaced, and dvds played with S-Video from a standard DVD player looked crisp and good.

Today I finally got the HD box from my cable company, hooked up with HD cables. HD broadcasts are just stunning on this tv (keep in mind that when time you change input sources, the first time using that new source all the settings are back to the defaults. Each new input source will need the picture settings messed with the first time. HD looked pretty bad on the default settings until that sharpness got turned down)... Non HDTV channels look ok, but no better with the HDMI connection, and maybe slightly worse in a few cases.

ANYHOW, heres the skinny. Loving this TV. The menu's all make sense and are easy to navigate. The remote is also intuitive and easy to use( it is NOT a universal remote, btw). Sound is pretty good. Connecting to it is easy, and all the connections are well labeled and easy to use. It looks good, and seems much bigger in my living room than in the showrooms. We see a lot less glare on the screen when the sun comes in the window as well.

And, the thing that worried me- almost no problem with motion blurring. Sports and action movies are all very watchable on HD (somewhat less so on the regular cable). There is a slight amount of blurring during extremely fast action, but its not distracting at all.I was scared that this would be the dealbreaker, but like everything else on this tv, it exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this tv! If you find a good price on it, buy it without fear.

It's a winner, except for the sound
Purchased this from Warehouse Deals by Amazon as re-boxed unit for a deeply discounted price and it arrived on time in like new condition. As we're new to High Def. we found the picture in HD stunningly great. Blades of grass on an ESPN HD college football game were plainly visible. Even though the refresh rate is only 60hz and we have no HDMI cable there is very little of the "smearing" that supposedly is a problem with LCD TV's. The non-glare screen on this model is also appreciated in our many-windowed living room. Although there is a website ([...] with tips to calibrate the picture we found it acceptably pleasing right out of the box on the brighter setting. Standard Def is mediocre, but after reading online and talking to the Comcast installers it's really not the TV's fault. The TV just accurately reproduces the faults in a low resolution broadcast. What is the TV's fault, and hence only 4 stars, is the subpar sound. Even after equalization the only two options seem to be boomy boxiness or grainy harshness. Still, since the picture is so good, better speakers can be hooked up, and the unit is fairly user friendly, it is enthusiastically recommended in the +/- [...] price range. Look for a deal in the Warehouse.

Good product
This DVD player is excellent when paired to a good HD tv. The video Quality is very near that of Blue Ray. The only negative thing I have to say is that the remote response and menu navigation is very slow. Though, this is very tolerable given the quality of the picture. Over all, I would buy this again.

old movies like new again
recently purchased a 1080p hdtv and wanted some of my older dvds to really look nice on the screen w/out having to make the costly transition to bluray; certainly does the job - pictures are crisp, clear and there are few to no movement artifacts. good processing leads to good 1080p conversion.

You get what you pay for! In this case not much.
We bought this DVD player to be used with a new Samsung 19" TV in our small RV as well as on a screened porch. We bought the campanion DVD in the same brand for campatibity. The DVD is cheap. The sound volume is poor even with HDMI cabling. On several ocassions the play back has be poor, but by moving the unit and using another plug it has worked. It seems to have some problems with self-recored DVDs -- skipping and screen going black for 1-2 seconds. Most of the problems have been in the RV, except for the sound. In the RV the sound is not a supreme issue as we are within 6 feet of the TV. Samsung support gets a mixed review. I called them 3 times about the volume issue. Once I was told to reconnect it. After several attempts I used a HMDI cable which did make some improvement. The second call was transferred to the DVD "department" because since the TV worked it had to be the DVD player. Ultimately in the conversation I was disconnected. The last call resulted in a suggestion to reset the DVD player. This did help a bit. I would not recommend this player. It is also very slow to respond to the remote. So slow in fact you think you didn't do anything.

The DVD-1080P8 was provided free with the purchase of my Samsung LNT2653H HDTV, as part of an Amazon promotion.

After playing a total of three or four DVDs over a period of a few months, it now refuses to load any DVD. When I attempt to load a disk, the drawer closes and the player struggles mightily for several minutes (I can hear the motor spooling up and down, thumping noises and other interesting mechanical effects) before finally admitting defeat and displaying "No Disk" on the front panel.

I did not experience the HDMI interface problems others have reported, and appreciate the simplification provided by replacing separate audio and component cables with a single HDMI cable. Aside from that convenience, I really saw little picture improvement over the ten year old Toshiba progressive scan player it replaced (which has now resumed it's place in my entertainment center) which still functions perfectly.

Samsung's standard warranty only covers labor for the first thirty days, and requires that I ship the player to their New Jersey repair facility at my expense. Since the combined cost of shipping and labor will undoubtedly exceed the current price of a new unit (.00 on Amazon), the DVD-1080P8 is an essentially disposable device. As an engineer, it would not surprise me to find that the same unreliable disk mechanism is used in their other products, such as Blu-ray disk players, since such commonality is a common cost-saving design strategy.

Good picture quality, useful upsampling ability which looks good on my 52" LCD. Annoyingly slow at loading and accessing the disc. Definitely good for the price though. The ability to make it region-free sold it for me.
